The deals you missed: Newcastle land Jaouen, Fulham sign Bayern's Kusi-Asare

Beyond the headline hijacks, the window's quieter business is reshaping mid-table: a new number one for Newcastle, an 18-year-old Bayern striker for Fulham, and Arsenal quietly trimming the squad.

Not every deal gets the siren — but these ones matter.

Newcastle completed the signing of Reims goalkeeper Ewen Jaouen before the World Cup, a deal that flew under the radar amid the Munoz saga. A long-term successor plan between the posts.

Fulham have taken a real swing: Jonah Kusi-Asare, an 18-year-old striker, arrives permanently from Bayern Munich. Bayern's academy strikers do not usually leave unless someone pays properly — Fulham's recruitment continues to punch up.

Arsenal are selling, not signing — yet. Jakub Kiwior has gone to FC Porto and Karl Hein to Werder Bremen as the champions trim the edges of the squad. The war chest is intact, which should make every Arsenal fan nervous in the best way: the club is clearly holding for one big swing.

Brighton did Brighton things: Zadok Yohanna from AIK and Costinha from Olympiacos, two names you'll pretend you always knew about in two years.

The window closes 1 September. The siren is watching.
