Sage and Jaissle face pressure as Palace host Newcastle in Premier League
Crystal Palace and Newcastle United meet in a Premier League fixture where both managers face intense scrutiny. Pierre Sage’s future is uncertain, with Thomas Frank and Kieran McKenna cited as potential successors if results do not improve. Palace have conceded 17 goals in seven Premier League matches, exposing defensive weaknesses following the transition from Oliver Glasner’s system. Meanwhile, Newcastle’s Matthias Jaissle is navigating a turbulent start after the club sold key players Sandro Tonali, Anthony Gordon, and Bruno Guimarães. His high-pressing tactics have been criticised as overly risky, contributing to a club-record run of 13 league games without a clean sheet. Despite internal support from chief executive David Hopkinson, fans question his approach. Both sides need a win to stabilise their seasons. The result will be crucial for both managers' futures and their clubs' European or survival ambitions.
