Neville: Man Utd players downed tools and turned on Carrick
Gary Neville has launched a scathing attack on Manchester United's players, accusing them of downing tools after their 3-0 defeat to Bournemouth. The Sky Sports pundit argued that the squad lacks professionalism and has effectively turned on head coach Michael Carrick. Neville described the recent run of form as a pattern of nothing, citing poor performances against Tottenham, Como, Atletico Madrid, and Fulham. He highlighted that captain Bruno Fernandes was an unused substitute following his public criticism of Carrick's tactics, while Lisandro Martinez also featured only as a second-half substitute. Neville stated that Carrick is a man of integrity who is suffering because he cannot get a tune out of the group. He warned that the club is making poor decisions from a business perspective and fears United could go another decade without a Premier League title. Neville insisted that consequences must extend above the manager, arguing that the people picking the managers keep getting it wrong. The defeat extended United's winless run to eight games in all competitions, leaving Carrick's future in serious doubt.
