Aston Villa face Manchester City in Premier League showdown
Aston Villa host Manchester City at Villa Park in a Premier League match kicking off at 12.30pm BST. City are top of the Premier League with a perfect record of seven wins from seven. A victory would make them just the third side to win their first eight games of a Premier League season. Unai Emery and Enzo Maresca continue their policy of rotation. Matty Cash, Ian Maatsen, Boubacar Kamara and Johan Manzambi return to the Villa team. For City, Marc Guehi, Iliman Ndiaye, Jeremy Doku and Erling Haaland come into the team, while Phil Foden is back on the bench. That victory came four days after Villa’s Europa League triumph in Istanbul. City have been beaten on their last three visits to Villa Park. The match follows news that Bayern Munich head coach Vincent Kompany will be absent for weeks after collapsing during training.
